America's Future Looks Bright...

Assume that the map will temper over the next thirty years but here's the map if the election were decided by just 18-29 year olds (who will be the core voting bloc in 20 years).

That's why those of us with more wisdom and experience are still allowed to vote.

Yes, a democracy values the whole spectrum. However...the future does look "interesting". "Bright" is not how I'd put it. :Oo

I think there is a good chance these young voters will mellow as they age. Winston Churchill said "any man under 30 who is not a liberal has no heart; any man over 30 who is not a conservative has no brains."

Hear hear! Good old' Winston. Love 'im or hate 'im, but you can't forget 'im...

AND, I certainly don't want to unduly or prematurely temper good old youthful zeal and enthusiasm...just so long as the youth don't rule the world (just yet).

I do remember MY first vote in a presidential election: it was Carter v. Reagan 1980 (crack open the history books if you weren't born yet or were still in swaddling clothes, folks). Given what was going on, don't you think I made the better choice (and given the choices)?

In restrospect, and mostly just on the surface, both Reagan and Obama represent hope and optimism. Who can blame folks for not climbing aboard? It will be an interesting ride regardless.
