Metro riders got a surprise today when a stunt, organized by George Mason University student Richard Julian, took the pants off Metro riders - literally.

Riders from DuPont Circle Metro Station dropped their pants for the DC pantsless Metro ride. Some said it was to protest high fares, but no official reason was given by the organizers as to why so many people were taking off their pants on the Metro.

While no laws were apparently broken, Metro police were on the lookout. As a testament to the stuffiness of Washington, the Metro police were notified not by organizers - but by the news media seeking comment.
